Peppermint Bark

Today our friend, Evelyn came over to do a bit of scrappy stuff. I call Evelyn "our friend" because my little girl and I met her in her cake decorating class this summer. Evelyn is one of those people you just meet and love right off bat!
Well we just had a simple thing to work on and she was mentioning Peppermint Bark candy and how she was going to make it for her twin babies day care teachers and box it up. I asked her where she got the supplies and she said somewhere in Dallas. So we immediately hopped in the car and Evelyn drove in the rain to this incredible candy/cake supply store. It smelled sickenly sweet in there but what a fun place! I bought my stuff to make a couple of pans of Peppermint Bark. It calls just for the peppermint and white chocolate but I wanted to add a layer of dark chocolate too. Now if only I could find some Gable Boxes to wrap it up in.
By the way if anyone lives in our area, Evelyn just started making cakes and does a most incredible job. Email me if you need a gorgeous cake!!!

Big on Christmas

I have been wanting this Stamp Set for awhile. It is called Big on Christmas. There are three stamps that come in this set, but my favorite is the Snowman!! Here is a simple little card.
I am chosing to use more non traditional Christmas Colors this year for some reason. I think because I am liking things more whimsical this year. I guess I am " big on whimsy"!
Materials used:
Big on Christmas Stamp Set
Bashful Blue Card Stock
Whisper White Card Stock
Bashful Blue Grosgrain Ribbon
Assorted SU markers

Happy Birthday, Lorrie!!

Happy Birthday my dear friend!
I hope you have a special day!
I am sorry I did not get this posted earlier, but I was up till 2 am " creating" and dragged myself out of bed late to post this, because I know you check my blog daily!

I met Lorrie as a an internet customer. Never knew her and we have become great internet and phone buddies, as we live far away, in other states.
She is a "true" friend, always there, always happy and upbeat, always supportive and always bumping my business threads on the message boards. She is my "right hand" man or gal!

I hope you have a very special day!! You deserve it!!!
Love, Barb
Please join me in wishing dear Lorrie a Happy Birthday, by leaving a comment for her!

My Thank You Post Card Card!

I just loved this Winter Post Stamp Set by Stampin' Up so decided to use it in another way and make a flat looking post card ( but I send it in an envie still).
I made these for Lisa Bug Junkie and Lorie Disney Diva for sending me my Flips.

My "Signature" Christmas Card~Which do you like best? Poll!!

Card A with flat post mark?

I hate to say it but I just love my card!! I love using non traditional Christmas colors. You will probably never find me using just red and green!
I had so much fun making my card. I just love this stamp set!
It is by Stampin' Up and called Winter Post.
I can just feel the "serenity" as I was making it.
The inside sentiment is from a Level One Hostess Set called Holiday Best. I also used the
Top Note Die.
The last photo was my First try on the card. I "popped" the little post mark on this original one but not on the final card. I did "pop" the stamp though on the final card. I then decided to add the darling stamp that IS a stamp and is from a Level Two Hostess Set called Christmas Punch.
I used Real Red, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip and love the color combination!!
I usually am my own worst critic but I love this card!! I hope the recipients do too!
I have had orders to make a bunch of these!
Please do me a favor and tell me if you like the the top card ( final) A
or the bottom card ( original) B the best?
The insides are the same!!!

Please leave a comment and just for fun take the poll....see above!!!

Thanks!! Barb

Card B with "popped" post mark?

Thanks for your comments!! Be sure to vote on the poll too!! I appreciate your comments! See above for the poll!!

Fun Day!

Yippee, It has been a year since I have seen my special little friend . She is the one that first told me about Circle of Friends . She was in the program during High School and now my little girl volunteers with Circle of Friends at her Middle School and I do too, all because of our love of this sweet girl!

We were supposed to celebrate her birthday two weeks ago but her brother got the flu , we rescheduled for last week and then my little girl got the flu, so today is the day!

It has been a year since I last saw her. Her mom and I are never able to seem to arrange a day due to someone always getting sick but we are finally going to meet today.
I describe her as an "Angel put on Earth". Just the sweetest and prettiest little thing ever. I made her a little treat card and got her a bunch of Halloween Lollipops. Pretzels are her favorite though. Well off to meet her for lunch at her favorite restaurant. I hope to get some photos!!

Back from our 2 hour lunch. Here is a photo of her being served a Birthday dessert, which none of us took a bite of!! She is wearing an "I love Zach sweatshirt". You know the show, Big World, Little People? Well she just had to meet Zach and her parents flew the family out there to meet him for her birthday. She just went back again this year to celebrate at their farm and go to their Charity Event. She adores this "tv" family and I loved hearing all about her trip.

I just love seeing her. She has the biggest smile and the biggest heart of anyone I know and she makes me feel all good inside when I get to see her!

Fun Stuff!!

I have been so busy taking care of my little girl with the Swine Flu, that I have not had a chance to make any crafts or check blogs. So today, I am posting two photos. The pumpkins were made by the receptionist at the Pulmonologist's office. I have to give Connie credit. The office is done up so cute for all the holidays. I just love this doctor. He is young and has five kids and is so much fun. The office looks like Finding Nemo and you feel like you are on a ship. They make it festive for every holiday. Aren't these decorative pumpkins cute? I got Connie's permission to post them! When you spend 3 hours there as we did on Friday, you have to find some fun in the situation!
I am also posting an old clipboard I made last year but thought it was kind of fun!
Enjoy!! Barb

Circle of Friends

I am very excited! In a few minutes I am going up to our Middle School to help with the "Social" for Circle of Friends. Circle of Friends is an organization to help the kids with Special needs have a "Social" with the other kids in the school. The kids can sign up to help wheeling the kids in wheel chairs to P.E. or lunch or just be a buddy. I am so happy and proud that my litte girl signed up to help with this program. I signed up to Coordinate the "Socials" for this year. My son and his friend are going to help me serve the food. Food was dropped off as donations. I love seeing how happy the kids are at this event. I volunteered once last spring and just can't wait to go back today!!!
Well time to head up to school!

On a Scrappy note, I am getting many of my projects accomplished for Christmas with the Cricut and am excited to share them with you in November!! All of my materials have arrived prior to this and also today!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my dear, dear husband! He is the best!!
Our kids are giving him his gift. I have to tell you though that my husband ordered it and wrapped it for himself! We suggested the idea to him and then he got it. Wow, some surprise! We had a nice long lunch at an outdoor restaurant and are staying in for dinner. We also celebrated the other night and will do so again this coming weekend, with friends.
I will post the cards later that we made.

Big Shot! Big Shot!!!! Check this out!!!

Lookey Lookey at my new Big Shot cover!!!
I am so excited to get this!
I just love my Big Shot and don't want it to get dusty so, a very talented lady, Clare, custom designed this for me!!

So darn tired!

Spent today doing a second Halloween Treat Workshop. I don't know why, but they wear me out. I was deliriously tired but we went to dinner afterwards for my husband's birthday. I was so slap happy in the restaurant that I started hysterically laughing. My kids asked if I was drunk but all I had was a sip of peach tea. I then laughed so hard that I cried. My husband loved seeing me so light hearted but the kids were like "what is wrong with mommy". I was going to come straight home and go to bed, but instead created this card.
I am toooo tired to post the materials used but will do so in the morning.
Hope you all had fun at the workshop. Thanks to Carmen, Evelyn,Linda, Liz, and Shanna for coming today!!

If anyone in the Dallas area is in need of a cake, please get in touch with me and I can get you in touch with Evelyn !! YUM YUM!!

Thank you Christmas with the Cricut and PC!

I had a MB friend over today when my box of goodies to start creating for the Design Team arrived. She noted that my puppies were just as excited to see the box as I was, so I ran and grabbed my camera. Meatball (the pup in my Aviatar) is on the left and
Oreo Cookie is on the right.

later....oh I am having so much fun working on my projects! I completed one and am working on the next but you will have to wait until November 8th!

Got some FLIPS!! Thank you Lisa and Lori B from the Message Boards!
However I don't know how to transfer it to my computer yet. This video is done via my computer and not on my new Flip. My pup Meatball is in the background whining, so excuse my laugh!
I would LOVE if you could please leave some comments as to what type of tutorial you would like to have on SU Card Making? Thanks! Barb

More Sweet Treats!! Flower Cards

By request, here are some more Sweet Treat Cards! They are refillable! I also just got my new Holiday Movers and Shapers for my Big Shot and it made this soooo easy to punch all those holes in the centers. Here are just a few of the ones I made. To see how to refill, go to Tutorial on September 8th post.
I had so much fun making these colorful flowers. There is much embossing but it is not noticeable in the photo.
Notice first of all the little stamped Bee in the card. This is on a piece of cardstock and stuck under the candy cup. The other side has the little scallop circle with another bee stamped on it. This removable idea is from another consultant, Kim Wilson. I added the little scalloped tag!

Guest Designer for Christmas with the Cricut!

I am thrilled ( and nervous) to announce that I was asked to be a Guest Designer for the Christmas with the Cricut Blog!! If you have not been over there, ( I am sure everyone has!) you will need to jump on over to Christmas with the Cricut which features daily Christmas projects and give aways! This blog is the genius idea of Joy, Melanie and Tammy.
I will be showing my designs from Winter Woodlands and Mini Monograms during one week in November. I am going to be among some of the greatest designers, so this makes me very nervous, as I am just kind of a plain ole' simple and easy type of card maker/scrapbooker . However, I am very honored and I can't wait to get this cartridge, courtesy of Provo Craft! I get to create with this new cartridge and the Mini Monograms, cart that I own and love! I love a challenge and feel it is good for the brain and keeps me young ( lol) , so stay tuned for a great month of November with some awesome talented people. Joy, Melanie and Tammy have worked so hard on their blog for a month now and have over 3,000 followers so hop on over there and while you are there check out the other awesome Guest Designers!!
