Christmas Day Dinner

Hi everyone. Hope you are having a great day. We are having a very quiet and peaceful day. I woke up sick, my husband is napping, my dd is at a friends and my son is quiet. I have not even made our dinner yet!! Just felt too sick to do much of anything today.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we just started a tradition a few years ago because we did not have any. That tradition all stemmed around a little Tamale shack we found one Christmas Day. Now on Christmas Eve we all cook together. We pick up the tamales, I make Chicken Enchilada soup in the morning and let it simmer all day and the kids make their Peanut Butter Blossom cookies. We decided to do that today, on Christmas Day since we were invited to some dear friends for last night for Christmas Eve.

Well here it is almost 6 pm, I am still in my pjs, still feel so sick and no soup has been made to be put on and simmered all day!! It is very peaceful though and I am very relaxed. Everyone is content and quiet. Oh well, we did get the cookies made so we can always have those for our Christmas dinner!! That and the left over tamales!

Edit- it is now 8 pm. Hubby whipped up a Pork Roast after his nap and I got the soup made!! He is so great! Soups on! If anyone wants any recipes, just email me!

Let is Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Christmas Eve 2009

Meatball is scrounging for something in the snow. That dog is always looking for something to eat!

Oreo was all snuggled up in her sweater. I did not even see her as I stepped on her going over to the sink.

Name a fun holiday tradition that your family does!

HI, I hope if you stop by to read, you will take a few minutes and post a holiday tradition you like to do!!! Please?
One Christmas Day we were driving around and found this little Tamale place. We got a package and took a long drive in the country. Since we are always without my big extended family each year, around the holidays, I have always felt lost and sad. Well I decided the next year we would make that tradition- to go to the Tamale place, but bring them home and all cook together. Now each year, I make a great Chicken Enchilada Soup. The kids help bake their favorite Peanut Butter Blossom cookies and we all have an enjoyable meal cooked by all of us.
This year we planned to do this on Christmas Day but .....today it started snowing. Yes snow here! We piled in the car and got our Tamales. Ate some in the car driving home. driving home in the snow. I have had so many, that I better stop so we have them for our meal tomorrow!
Please drop me a line and tell me a fun tradition that you do with your family???
Merry Christmas Eve!

We are so blessed!

I am excited. My dd won a Dell Netbook from our Orthodontist today! He was having a drive to collect socks. I was so excited when I saw that the socks were going to the country that we adopted our kids from!!! We had an appointment yesterday and saw the sign about donating socks. We got tons and tons since there were not that many that were donated. We got socks for babies, socks for kids, socks for men and socks for woman. The country is so poor, that they will have to wash their new white socks in the river but they will be thrilled to get them! I was thrilled to buy them for them!
I got a call early this morning that my little girl won the Netbook!!! I went and picked it up today from the doctor. What a wonderful man he is. He goes on mission trips to the country that the kids are from. I have been trying to figure this thing out. I am going to use it soley for answering emails if I am not near my computer and to put my DS on it, if I can get the code back! I am not a pc user. My little girl is helping me though! I will post a photo in the morning. I have over 7,000 emails to delete off the netbook! They showed up when I put my email on it!

My little Snowbaby

My little Snowfriends, Snowbaby!
Ok, I was not going to get this cart. I am SUPER picky about my Snowpeople and this cart just did not float my boat. Well I borrowed it from my dear friend, Evelyn and stayed up late last night making this little guy. I think he is pretty cute!
You can't tell but he is embossed all over. His body has the little dots, (no he does not have pimples on his face) made with the new upcoming SU embossing folder called Dot, Dot, Dot!
The background of the card is embossed with snowflakes.
I used SU Bashful Blue Designer Print paper and Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon. He is nesting on the darling Top Note die cut. Glittery snowflake embellishments are added to his sweater and the backround.
Well I just showed my little girl this post and she thinks "he" is so ugly. She says she does not like him and I think he is the cutest of all the bunch. I was not crazy about the other ones on the cart, but this little guy is growing on me!

Spam Filter~ugh

Sorry guys, I hate those spam filters where you have to fill in the letter code but I have been getting a bunch of spam lately. I always hated that Spam that came in a can and I hate this SPAM too, so I put the filter back on. I hope you bear with it and still post comments on my blog. Thanks to those that always post comments on my blog. I have tons of readers but only a handful of posters and I sure appreciate you, as keeping up a blog is time consuming (but fun)!

Snowman Card

Here are the cards, I made for my nieces to mail their checks in. Just a simple but cheery holiday card made using the SU Top Note and Bashful Blue Paper and embossing folders. Sizzix has a new dots one that is coming out in January through SU and I love it because it is wide enough to cover the entire card! I am off to make some more Snowmen cards today using my Sweet Treat Cups.

Cards, cards and more cards!

These are the cards that the kids made for their teachers and I made for some friends. Very easy and fun. We embossed the White Cards, then stamped them with a sentiment with Chocolate Chip ink. We still need to put glitter over the writing. Then we added some beautiful ready made tags! We emboss the envelopes too and have the address labels already printed out. The recipients always love these cards.

My Christmas Cards

Hi friends,
I have been so busy the past few days, making my Christmas Cards. I made duplicates of some of the cards. Gosh it took me a long time. We have about 100 on our list. I added some special new message board members to my list this year. My Hostess Club members just got a store bought card (sorry) but it had a surprise inside. The kids have 7 teachers each and they made their own cards but we have a quick and easy solution for that. Then I made the 8 administrators a hand made card. They have come to expect it. I still have a ton more to make for family and close friends! I hate to say this but I had to get an anti- inflamatory and a muscle relaxer for my back and neck. I think it is too much computer and crafting! Check out my new Black Expression in the backround. I love it!

Santa Card with SU punches

Santa Card. This matches the little gift boxes that I posted last week. Card inspired by Sharon Fields. These were fun to make. I made about 6 of them using SU punches. The tag was made using a crimper. Really fun to make!

Clean Puppies!

Our groomer came to our house today! She moved away and then came back and told me she could come to our home and groom the puppies! It worked out so great. They were so excited to see her. Meatball just got a bath but Oreo Cookie got groomed. Poor thing, had to cut most of her furry tail off. It looks like a Pug's tail or worse but she is so sweet. They really loved having our groomer come to our house. This is not a mobile groomer but our actual groomer who actually came inside and groomed the dogs. It was great! I hope she stays in town for awhile! I love when they have those cute little white teddy bear paws!

Stampin' Up Digi Christmas Card

Here is another card. I did this playing with the MDS from Stampin' Up. It is our digital program. I am having so much fun with this! Not crazy about this card but was trying something in pastels for a soft effect. This was using the digi elements of the Hodge Podge hardware, brads, Winter Post and All Scallops "Stamps ". Colors used were Chocolate Chip and Baja Blue "ink" and Baja Blue "ribbon" and Pretty in Pink "brads". It is so much fun to see the SU images on this software!! The card ends but it looks like it has an extra white edge when I put it on blogger.

Yummy Yummy Sopapilla Cheesecake

This is such a delicious and easy recipe! I have made it before and they were called Cream Cheese Squares but my son made them in a class and the teacher called it Sopapilla Cheesecake. My husband and I just made up a batch for him to bring to an office party tonight. I sure wanted a bite of that delicious stuff. I made them for my workshop last week. Thought I would share. Great for a dessert or a brunch. Enjoy! Barb

Ingredients

2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
Press one can of the crescent rolls into the bottom of the prepared pan. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread over the crescent layer. Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay them on top of the cream cheese layer. Do not press down. Pour the melted margarine over the entire pan. Combine the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is crisp and golden.
