Simply Sunday~Adoption!

Dear friends, sorry I am late with my post for today but so glad you stopped by to check my blog for Simply Sunday.


Today is a bit of a different type of post. First I must explain that adoption is near and dear to my heart. It all started when I read a book when I was 12 about a family adopting 12 children from different countries and that became my goal!  I didnt 't get married until I was almost 37 so I had a late start. We didn't adopt 12 children from 12 different countries, but my dream did come true when we were able to adopt two wonderful babies from the same beautiful country. 


While searching for cake decorating blogs a few summers ago, I came across a wonderful blogger named Summer. I just loved this girl from the start. Well since then she has changed her blog and now has a blog in hopes of finding a baby to adopt. It breaks my heart that Summer and Adam want to be parents so badly and have not been blessed yet.  I am passing along their blog link, in hopes of you seeing it and passing it along to others you know. I keep telling Summer the right baby has just not come along yet, but that is not easy to hear when you wanted that baby, "yesterday".  I truly feel deep inside though, that they will be blessed through adoption.

Stampin' Up! Welcome Christmas

Oh I am just loving working in My Digital Studio. Now I have to say, I am not a fan of purely digital cards, as I like more dimension to my work and still love the touch and feel of real paper and embellishments so I prefer to make 'hybrid" cards which are part digital and part paper.

I used the Digital Download Welcome Christmas Stamp Set # 123962 again for this card. This download is only $3.95 and has so many great elements to it. 
Today's card is using the silhouette of the children sledding. It brings a peaceful serene feel or in the case of today's card, a fun playful mood.


I literally threw this card together.  I was playing around with scraps and came up with this. 
I knew I wanted to put the sledding scene in a scalloped circle and used our Silver Glimmer Paper #124005. Isn't it gorgeous!


I then noticed I had a scrap of paper from Letters to Santa Designer Paper with the jingle bell print and decided to use that.  I pulled up more scraps and came up with the wood grain print from the Frostwood Lodge Paper Pack. I think it tired in great together and I was literally just playing around!  I added it to some Garden Green Card Stock and tied some Cherry Cobbler Seam Tape Binding around it.  The top looked a bit plain so I added our little Felt Stitched Winter Wishes to it and attached them to a Glimmer Brad.  I have to say I love the look!


The inside is the sentiment from the Digital Welcome Christmas printed in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White paper.  I hope you like this card, as much as I liked creating it for you!

Stampin' Up! Welcome Christmas Digital Christmas Card

Hi friends, 
I thought I would give my MDS- My Digital Studio a try this week.
First I purchased and downloaded the Welcome Christmas Stamp Set #123962- only $3.95 to my MDS

I cut the image in a circle and then backed it with Early Expresso Circle, which is matted on a Cherry Cobbler Scalloped circle. The card base is 4x4 Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.


I love our Frostwood Lodge Designer paper #124002 and used a scrap of that to go across the card and framed with with a border of scallops in Whisper White Card Stock


The sentiment is also printed from the Welcome Christmas Stamp Digital Stamp #123962
Set and cut out by hand, can't you tell! 


I popped it with Stampin' Dimensionals and then added a tiny felt holly piece from our Winter Wishes Stitched Felt Embellishments #124108.


Very easy card to make and mass produce for your Christmas Cards. I highly suggest trying our MDS downloads. Did you know you can use them even if you work in another software program? Just purchase our downloads and work with our images! Of course I just love our MDS!

Look how nicely the ink showed up to print the Digital "stamp". I used Early Expresso Ink- that is what is so nice about our Digital Program- is that the inks can match our papers and embellishments true to color!

Stampin' Up! Thanksgiving Card from Workshop

Good morning. It is a dreary Monday here in Texas and I have a kid home sick. How are you all doing? Did anyone feel that tremor we had in Texas on Saturday night?


Last week, I had so many other things to show that I did not show the last card we made at my Harvest Workshop the weekend before.


I got the idea from my dear consultant friend, Cara Brandse, in Canada. She made a beautiful card and gave me one at Convention but I could not find it so I had to wing it.

 Hers had beautiful window panes in it but after trying really hard, I just made a simpler version and used that for the Worskhop.  However the girls at the workshop went for the Window Pane version!

Cara's Card was designed like this but hers was sooo pretty and my grass is not lined up!

Stampin' Up! Spice Cake Gatefold Card

Hi friends, 

This is one of the pretty cards we made at my workshop last Saturday. As you know Spice Cake is one of my most favorite designer paper packs out of our Holiday Mini Catalog.  This was my sample but I made another one at the workshop and stamped the flower again in Soft Suede and had it in several layers. It looked nicer than in this photo.

A Stampin' Up! Halloween Card Display! Christmas Card Tutorial!

Simply Sunday~ Pumpkin Patch!

Simply Sunday~ What is Fall without a trip to the Pumpkin Patch? I almost forgot to go this year since the kids are older! Took a bunch of neighbors too. Oh it was more fun when they were little but at least one of mine still wants to go.
