Simply Sunday~ A DIY project

HI friends, last summer I decided to get rid of a small desk for my kids that was in my husband's office. All they did was put their junk on it and not use it as a desk.
I wanted something I had seen but at Pottery Barn they were too expensive and even so at thrift shops. I came up with this idea and my husband put it together!

It is a place for the kids to put their coats, shoes and back packs.

First I found the bench at Steinmart. I had the idea to get some Wainscotting at the hardware store and paint it black. I then found the frame with hooks at Hobby Lobby. My husband put it together and it is a perfect place for them to not take up too much room in his office. Hope you enjoyed. It ended up costing about $35 for the frame half off, the bench was on sale for $40 and the wainscoting and paint was about $25 or so.

Have a happy Sunday and thank you for stopping by!

Finally- My Revised, Revised again CRAFT ROOM!

Ok friends!
I am so behind in showing you these photos!
As you know I redid my room after our floors flooded.
We got another set of new hardwoods but this time the darker, hand scraped ones.
Since the plumber knocked huge holes in my wall, I got to chose a new color. This is Restrained Gold by Sherwin Williams. It is so similar to the White Raisin I had before but toned down a bit.
Ok here goes the tour!
It took me forever to put this room back together!
Not a thing was damaged but we had to pack up the entire first floor of our house so they could redo it.

Come on in for the tour!

Ok, we are walking in from the Living Room through the French Doors. This is actually my Dining Room!

This area is directly to the left when you come in.
I keep my Big Shot Dies and just a few stamps and carts here on the shelves. The puppies love the Ottoman or customers can sit there and browse through catalogs and booklets of cards

Same wall- more Jetmax Cubes but I took away the tall shelf I used to have on the right side

The right side of that wall - but with the tall shelf removed and a little working area for me, to keep track of my Clubs, etc
I put a bit of the pre-school art but not all of it.

This is the section in the middle of the bulletin board and the tall shelves. I took the drawings my kids had made in pre-school down and now I have a display of some of the cards we will make at the next workshop

This is a little island I made for my daughter. She can open it up and put the stools underneath. My husband shortened the stools and painted them. We got them at Steinmart.

More of the island with my work tools that I can not do without!
Big Shot, Table Top Trimmer. Grid Paper Pad, and my Simply Scoring Tool!

Other side has my daughter's papers and things

Next comes my desk. It is opposite of the French Doors in the Bay Window. Do you see something funny in this photo!!
Comment if you do please!

I can't forget my favorite wall with the self portrait my son did of himself and me many years ago!

Ok, across from that is my desk. It is the opposite wall of the shelf and row of jetmax cubes. To the right are the French Doors into the Living Room.
This is actually neat. I am a messy worker!

Ribbons and Inks and Punches Oh My!
Everyone asks so I may as well say now, I got the holder the inks are on several years ago. They had cloth drawers in them. I can not find anymore but have searched!

Here is another holder on the left and I covered the cloth drawers with "Chalkboard" Contact Paper
I keep my ink refills in the drawers and punches and embellies on the top

Punches and more stamp setsThe rods are from Ikea and the Stamp holder is from a Garage Craft Sale!
I got another rack but honestly use it for a toilet paper holder!
I will show that one day on my Simply Sunday Posts!

Close Up

There is a little slide show over on the right but it was a few revised times ago! Here is a video from a past remodel last summer. My room is not like those now!
 Feel free to watch!

Ok, well thanks for stopping by and thank you for putting up with my LACK of posts during the remodel time!

Still cleaning.......

Hi friends, still working on getting my room put back together. The flooding we had only damaged floors but it honestly was a good thing. We had to pack up everything on the first floor and I am slowly getting around to getting my craft room set back up.

I have been spending the last month de-junking every single room upstairs including all closets. This is after 15 years of living here. So, all in all the flood was good but my craft room has been nagging at me.  After this is done we have the walk in pantry- huge and the 3 attics to do! Then I am having a massive garage and craft/teacher sale! I mean I have not taught in 15 years so why keep it now. Also do teens still need baby clothes? I did save them each 4 tubs full! I have a hard time letting go, but am really in a de-junking mode. When my house is less cluttered, hopefully my mind will be too!

Here are some of the yucko photos from yesterday. I still have tons of work left to do today and then tomorrow, I hopefully can show you good photos.
Honestly, it feels good to de-junk all the clutter in the house. I am the queen of nick nacks!

This is just my messy desk. I can do this after one card making session. I got this cleaned up in minutes!

My messy island-oops photo is blurred. I removed it

I removed a set of tall shelves from here on the right, so I am limited in much space. I have boxes of paper work and card stock to sort through that are in boxes over there

My existing shelf is neat but I have tons of stuff on the ottoman to put away. Where?

It has carried over into the living room. More stuff to sort and put away but with my other shelf gone, where?

Ok, after working on my room from 2pm-midnight last night this is what I woke up too. I honestly made more of a mess, cleaning up!

Messy Island

I got the desk cleaned but pulled more stuff to organize, and messed it up again!

More stuff on island and my jetmax cubes but I did go through all of my cubes and organized everything!

I honestly wish I could twitch my nose and it would all be done!
This is the toughest room of all. I even moved my son and the guest room and that was fun and moved the total room!

Well back to work!! I have lots more to do before the teenage slumber party tonight. Ugh, I hate those things!! You, have a nice weekend and stop on by tomorrow morning for the updated CLEAN photos! (IF I survive the 14 year old girl slumber party!)
